Battle for Scraparp
Siege of Ironhill Village

Just another battle, Just another pair of soldiers

Kavez looked around the rooftop of the building. In the distance, he could see various firefights between coalition forces as well as cultist forces all over the village. He sighed, "Okay, now what we do? If we stay up here da tank's gonna blow us to bitz."

"Well, we can get bit of rest here. If ya don't stick yer head out, da tank will think we are already dead." Came the response from Bink.

Kavez watched is relative disbelief when his buddy sat down for a drink of water. "We're in the middle of a bloody war out here and that #@*$ is resting?" he thought as he nervously scanned the rooftop.

"Get whatever rest ya can, you'll need it..." Bink said, while casually capping his bottle of water.

"REST? We're stuck on the bloody roof!! There's lots o crap downstairs and a stupid tank across the street!! How can we res......"

"Calm down will ya? Bink's got a plan."

"What plan? You're just talkin cr....... "

A hideous scampering noise together with various daemonic howls interrupted their little argument. Both Salamanders looked at the rooftop access hatch as daemons started scampering up the roof access. By piling up on each other, they started climbing to the roof.

"Kavez, Grappling hook! Pipe! Off da edge!" Bink shouted, taking out the grappling hook device from his backpack and latching it onto a pipe at the edge of the building. Without stopping, he attached the other end of the device, jumped off and rappelled down the sides of the building.

"Bink! You idiot!! Da tank is...." Kavez shouted back. He paused to look at the daemons pour onto the roof. "Arghhh crap..." he muttered as he followed his buddy off the roof. For a moment, he wondered if it was better to get eaten by daemons or get blown to bitz by a tank.

It was then that he realised that Bink jumped off the back of the building. The side facing a small side alley, hidden from the tank. His thoughts then promptly turned to another current issue.

Kavez hated rappelling. That's because he was always afraid his rope would snap.... or he's slip... or something bad would cause him to turn into a squishy pancake down below. Though he didn't exactly approve of Bink's Gung-ho attitude, sometimes he conceded that they could get the job done. Although he figured that if Bink wanted to do all this crazy stuff he should have been chosen to join the commandos or something.

Just then he heard two loud "TOOM" Gunshot sounds. Those sounded exactly like one of the guns a cultist was using at them earlier in the building. A cold shiver went through him as he realised that while they were rappelling, they were like a shooting gallery to any cultists below.

"Bink! Them's shootin at...." His warning cut short as he saw his partner firing a large revolver into a solitary daemon on the street below. The large slugs easily pulping the daemon's raptor-like skull.

"Bink, Why the *#^% are you using a 'Trixie' Revolver?" Kavez asked. "Don't you already HAVE a pistol?"

"Cause I found this one from a cultist eariler and it's better. This one's got more kick to it." Bink retorted. He adjusted the grip in his claws abit to compensate for the poor gun balence. "This gunz bit off-balence, but Bink thinks Bink can fix it back at base."

Kavez shook his head. "Thats IF we ever get back to base."

Once they both reached solid ground, they hit their Grappling hook device's release catch and the ropes slid down off the building, leaving their pursuers stranded on the roof.

"Bink..." Kavez muttered.

"Yep Kavez?"

"I hate you so much...."

"Bink always does too. "

Inteligence data

Grappling hook device (GHD):

These were originally designed by the Salamanders for use in mining, but the lightweight device quickly found a place in military use.

It consists of a rope wound round a central coiled spring. The pull of the spring to wind up the rope could be controlled by a dail on the device. A separate release button causes the grappling hooks above to remotely fold upwards, causing immediate detachment of the hook from any surface it was latched to.

The other end of the GHD has a latch that is used to latch on to the user's belt/combat gear.
A safety catch locks the device in case the user lets go of the rope.

This is commonly issued to salamander infantry.

"Trixie" revolver:

These semi-automatic revolvers fire a large calibre, high density round that is capable of punching through most infantry armour. It was originally developed as a standout weapon to easily punch through daemonic carapace of typical daemons and so it is relatively inaccurate at long range.

Two variants exist; a 6-shot varient (Trixie-6) and a 5-shot varient (Trixie-5). The 5 shot varient was more developed later with a larger bullet for higher stopping power, at the cost of increasing the recoil of the gun.

These guns are usually only issued to stronger races (e.g. drakes, wolfkin). They are also commonly seen in cultist forces as well... although cultist-manufactured "Trixies" tend to be of poorer quality and balance (such as the off-centred chamber one that Bink found) than coalition-made varieties.

It is unclear why this gun was called "Trixie". Speculation was that either this was the name of the gunsmith who first made it..... or someone related to the gunsmith.

More recently a variety of other ammunition types have been developed for use for the "Trixie". These include flare rounds, putty explosives as well as (experimental) delayed-blast amunition.

Weee, Silent comic :XD: cause I figure it's better to let the story do the talking.

Got this one done fast so that I could test the scanner as well as practice a bit of perspective. :XD:

You'll see more of the stuff in later comics. This one's actually an intro to something bit larger. :) so stay tuned.
