Tyranid Gargoyle by Snowfyre Tyranid Gargoyle by Snowfyre
Yep, nother painted mini with a new painting style too :D so much new stuff.... not that 90% of my watchers care :D

But I don't either so I post what I like :P

Anyway 1 gargoyle done. wet blend on the wings, also a different carapace painting tech.
Lazy to try to take a better photo.

So yes, 1 gargoyle done... 19 to go.
sighs.

Nice! I like this technique over the one you used on the Ravener, the accentuation on the lighter areas seems to give the darker regions a greater sense of depth.

REally cool color scheme, i usually paint my Tyranid with a black/orange scheme, for remember a mix between a lobster and a wasp.

Lobster wasp.

well I'd just started fiddling about with painting them. mixed results so far as I'm trying to stabilise the tech. Find something I like.

Man, that is going to be some dedication there.
Can I ask, how much are you spending on paints for these?

:iconsnowfyre:
Snowfyre Featured By Owner Oct 10, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
well, the paints I use are:

ceramite white, skull white, abbadon black, regal blue, enchanted blue, ice blue, malachite red, blood red, blazing orange and sunburst yellow.

and ard'coat varnish.

11 paints so that's $66 AU.

I sometimes wonder
why I actually torture myself coming up with these colour schemes
when I tend to play swarm armies....

Tell me about it. Horde armies are bad enough without painting them to that level ^^.
I find that when you have painted 30+ minis and start to get dizzy; a considerable amount of whiskey tends to help :D:D:D

yeahhhh
I also learnt why I tend to gravitate towards swarm armies. reason is cause you tend to get more models per $$$ so you feel like your munny is more well spent....

... though that also does mean you got more stuff to paint.

I get bored very quickly of painting the same scheme, so I try to get individual models that are awesome XD. If there are fewer minis then I tend to spend more time on details, so the outcome tends to be better. However, I can imagine a fair sized nid army painted like this must be bloody amazing! How is your persistence if I may ask? :)

That's why I like orks too.... you can paint everyone in a mess of different schemes and it still looks good :D

Persistence is futile!
but I'm very stubbornly determined to do it... slowly.

Nice work. The white is a bit chunky in places, but after having painted an entire High Elves army myself, I know that colour is a bitch. Loving the blue on the wing membranes and the carapace!

Good job. I love the colour scheme. The blue parts are very well executed with some lovely shadings. I would however have tried to blend the white parts more with the blue shadings.

As for blending well, considering that I have 19 more gargoyles to paint, I'm trying to find a tech that I can deploy in a reasonable amount of time.

The wings do glisten every so nicely... and they were gargoyles!
This was the thing I was trying to find in your previous request for trying to draw your warhammer figures; one of these guys.
I saw one in your pictures once, but couldn't find it when it counted.
