Wraithlord: The scorpion king

Yes, to all of those who watch me for my occasional Warhammer 40000 related posts, here's one of them. A recently painted model.

and my THIRD painted Eldar model Joy . It's a Wraithlord, modeled after a striking Scorpion. (hence the green and chainsaw ... yes, who needs a wraithsword when you have WRAITH CHAINSAW!!! )

Very happy that I finally painted a NEW model after so long





This model actually has some history to it. Skip the rest if you aren't interested.
<sub>I first found it sometime last year at under half price, painted black with the odd metal wires stuck to the head and on a cork/modelling thingie base.... with the sword's stabby bit broken off. It was being sold sadly secondhand as someone apparently converted it halfway and gave up....

I was considering buying it at that point... it was missing many parts (not that I couldn't figure a way around it being a veteran converter from being an ork player ) and I already have one wraithlord (still not assembled or painted... -__- ) and didn't really think much of the head's "Hair".... was thinking until one other guy from the store showed up and said if I wasn't buying it he'd get it.


And well, I didn't like him that much... (seriously) so I bought it in front of him to deny him in one of those Nova evil F*#$% YOU UP moments.

And so it sat in that state for about half a year, under my bed ignored cause I didn't know what to do with it. After my birthday last year I got a box of striking scorpions and figured that the thing's previous owner was indeed trying to turn it into a strking scorpion lord. ... so using the extra biting blade and chainsaw bitz and some plasticard I went to work picking up where whoever it was left off.

It was completed and cleansed and sprayed black at the end of December 2008, but with a lack of time it promptly returned being forgotten. My mum brought it over to Australia in April.

Last weekend I looked at it and felt bad about it... and told myself i'm not going to waste my mother's effort bringing the thing here.

So I painted it
in 2 days.

+ 1 day touch up and error correction


And here it is. The scorpion king.



Combat history and notes

It was only used once in combat cause that eldar guy didn't have a wraithlord and wanted to borrow one. So happened was the day I brought it to the store.

I run it as a wraithlord with twin flamers and wraithsword / Shuriken cannon. I know it's a crappy combo. (better than twin shuriken catapults though. yes, those things ARE shuriken catapults but I say they're flamers ) but well, this model was created and painted for fun.

Which everyone in the store seemed surprised when I declared it was painted for fun, not for golden daemon.

Design notes

If I could, I would have replaced his left hand with a tyranid crushing claw. Then it'll look REALLY like the striking scorpion exarch with the scorpion claw
but
I didn't have a spare and was lazy to konvert.


Also I put the Shuriken Catapult there cause striking scorpions usually carry a shuriken pistol in the free arm so.. erm.. yeah. besides, random str 6 shots for 10 more points may be useful.

The dragon symbol is gonna be my craftworld symbol.</sub> Yes, the RISE of Snowfyre's PANZEES!!!

Painting notes

Scorp green and yellow are FREEKING HARD TO PAINT on large flat surfaces.... -__- I HATED it so much eventually I gave up and drybrushed.

There's an "Easter egg" somewhere in this model. 10 worthless points to the first one who identifies what it is and where it comes from.
